Sausages

Food trends can change dramatically from one generation to the next. In some circumstances, what was once a staple meat product for our grandparents can be scarcely heard of at the butcher shop today; after all, when was the last time your family sat down to a big serving of crumbed lambs brains?

There are few food products that stand the test of time; these products are usually linked with fond memories and special occasions. The top of our list: Sausages.

Our love for snags begins in early childhood with plain beef sausages - often one of the first meat products a child will be given by their parents. Sausages play a major role in our lives throughout our school days with end-of-term sausage sizzles, school camps and sleep overs. The love affair develops as we grow up, sausages awakening our other senses - the hissing and sizzling noises from the BBQ, the familiar wafts that circle around the yard in the summer breeze. It’s not just the product itself, but what the product represents.

Sausages are so embedded in our culture that many Australians are offended if an individual voices their dislike towards the unpretentious snag. This is the most honest proof of our passion for sausages.

It is difficult to find a man in Melbourne more passionate about sausages than Peter Bouchier. Throughout his career, Peter has developed and refined numerous sausage recipes which have, in turn, won dozens of awards in local and national competitions. Peter and his team are proud of their popular varieties which are available in our stores as well as selected stockists throughout Victoria. We appreciate that it can be hard to deviate when you find your all-time-favourite sausage flavour- each of our butchers will admit to having a favourite of their own, however, we must insist – variety is the spice of life! Peter often experiments and trials different recipes and styles, drawing upon German and Italian spice combinations and adding fresh, in-season veg as well. So make sure you keep an eye on the sausages displayed at our stores for the limited editions and seasonal varieties that are quickly snapped up by our loyal sausage-enthusiast customers.
