Melbourne’s Premium Butcher, Peter Bouchier – Butchers of Distinction, is dubbed Bacon Champion at Australian Charcuterie Excellence Awards; receiving the coveted Category Champion Award for their Free Range Dry Cured Streaky Bacon, taking the top prize among Australia’s best charcuterie and smallgoods manufactures.

Along with the Champion prize for bacon, Peter Bouchier (company) was award various gold and silver medals for products within their smallgoods range, including: boneless leg ham, frankfurts, and kabana.

The Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) launched the Australian Charcuterie Excellence Awards (ACEA) in 2022. These annual awards are the premier awards for the Australian smallgoods industry, recognising products of quality and excellence, while promoting industry recognition and standards. The awards are delivered in partnership with Australian Pork Limited, Cold Xpress, and William Angliss Institute.

There’s magic in the art and science of smallgoods making and we must encourage young talent to gain the skills and knowledge needed for the longevity of the craft.”
